GoNina is a Swiss company that uses artificial intelligence to make businesses more efficient and reduce their environmental impact. Our team combines expertise in technology, scaling, and product development—supported by a strong network of partners and funding institutions.

Our history

GoNina was founded in Zurich in 2023 by Ferdinand and Matthieu. Ferdinand had previously built up GoStudent, while Matthieu came from a background in consulting and the start-up Smallpdf. Together, they wanted to solve a problem with a real impact.

They quickly became aware of the enormous scale of food waste: it accounts for around 10% of CO₂ emissions and costs restaurants, bakeries, and retailers a lot of money.

After more than 150 interviews, it was clear that surpluses are caused by unpredictable fluctuations in demand, which vary depending on location, date, and product.

This led to the creation of GoNina: an AI solution that accurately forecasts demand and makes it accessible to businesses of all sizes.

Our team

Ferdinand

chief technology officer

Ferdinand studied electrical engineering at ETH Zurich and previously co-founded GoStudent. As CTO, he is responsible for the technical side of GoNina and focuses on backend, automation, and infrastructure. In his free time, he enjoys cooking multi-course meals.

Julia

Head of AI

Julia studied computer science with a focus on AI and neural networks at the University of Tartu. She develops the models for our AI forecasts and ensures accurate results. In her free time, Julia can often be found on the ski slopes.

Matthieu

Managing Director

Matthieu studied economics at HSG and RSM and manages the commercial side of GoNina. He establishes partnerships, supports customers, and drives growth. In his free time, he listens to music and practices martial arts.

Richard

Head of Sales

Richard studied economics at WU Vienna and Nova and is responsible for sales and existing customer management. He works closely with our partners and supports new rollouts. In summer, he enjoys Switzerland's rivers and lakes, and in winter he loves skiing.

Shiraz

Head of Software

Shiraz studied computer science at TEK UP in Tunisia and is responsible for front-end development at our company. She translates complex functions into clear and accessible user interfaces. In her free time, Shiraz enjoys spending time at the beach or with her family.

Our partners

The Migros Pioneer Fund supports sustainable solutions to social challenges in order to initiate systemic change towards a sustainable society. Its impact-oriented funding approach combines financial support with active promotion and risk management. The fund is part of the Migros Group's social commitment and has an annual budget of around CHF 15 million. It is supported by Migros Group companies such as Denner, Migros Bank, Migrol, migrolino, and Ex Libris.
